Florida Agency Reverses Uber Ruling


From the Wall Street Journal, Lauren Weber reports that the Florida’s Department of Revenue said that an Uber driver was an independent contractor and not an employee.  This decision reversed an earlier decision that found that the driver was an employee.

In a nine-page decision issued Wednesday, the Department of Revenue said “there are some aspects of the relationship that show traditional indicia of employment,” but said they don’t add up to the level of control necessary to establish an employment relationship.
