Models who say they were misclassified as contractors win class certification

From Reuters, Brendan Pierson reports that models suing model agencies were certified for class actions alleging that the models were misclassified as independent contractors. Brendan writes:

Two major modeling agencies must face class action claims accusing them of misclassifying models as independent contractors, a New York judge has ruled.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Peter Sherwood on Friday certified class actions accusing Dallas-based Wilhelmina Models Inc and New York-based Next Management LLC of violating New York’s labor law.
